Pre-transport EVD safety review
Complete this checklist prior to intra-hospital transport or procedures.
Important
Clamped β unmonitored. ICP can be monitored whether the EVD is open to CSF drainage or clamped β the transducer reads ICP in either state. Common practice is to clamp the EVD for transport without continuously monitoring ICP; in a CSF-drain-dependent patient, this can let an ICP elevation go unrecognized. It is safer to keep monitoring ICP throughout transport and open the EVD to drain CSF as needed if ICP rises.
